Outside is a like a frozen wonderland, other than brief bursts of excitement from the children we have been huddling in the warm.
I should of been utilising my time constructively and crafting ready for the upcoming craft fair. Instead I have been time wasting on the internet and have made a rather lovely discovery. (So I feel this justifies it all).
I stumbled across a textile artist called Mister Finch, I don't want to be too gushy, but Im not sure I can hold it in.
He is rather amazing, inspiring and pant wettingly talented!!!! *and breathe*
It doesn't happen often, but just sometimes I find an artist whose work makes my stomach do a funny little dance and I can't quite catch my breath.
This happened when I saw Mister Finch's work, he ticks all the boxes for me, ALL.
Recycled materials, muted colour, textile heaven, I could just go on and on but really you just need to go see for yourself. So I have posted a couple of his photos to give you a little taste.
But if you do nothing else on your computer today, pop on over to his website and take a little gander.

This is my sewing machine, her name is Ethel. She is a lovely old lady, in good condition and ready to go. There is one hitch. I can't figure out how she works!
She has been in my loft for (many, many) years due to this minor issue. But with my plans for my business starting to come together, I thought it time she was brought back down and for me to learn once and for all, how to use her.
So now she is sitting on my lounge floor, and I am sitting in front of her with my legs crossed. And we are looking at each other, wondering how this is going to pan out.
Thank goodness for the power of Facebook. A rather fabulous friend of mine saw my plight (a rather pathetic status update) and has volunteered to come over and give me a crash course.
I thought for a moment I actually saw Ethel breathe a small sigh of relief!
So this is it, Ethel is coming out of retirement and I am learning a new skill.
Wish us luck.

It's been an emotional week here. It was the small girls first week in Nursery. AKA the week I have been dreading :(
The small girl is three, and beyond ready for Nursery, if the truth be known I think she has been ready for awhile.
So why the dread? Me. Its all me. The small girl is my last bambino and I have been hanging onto her with a vice like grip, I have been choking up at the mere thought of dropping her at Nursery and coming home to an empty house, (The pets don't count I'm afraid).
I banned myself from thinking about it over Christmas, but finally it was upon us.
So with a heavy heart we set off. I was uber brave and settled her in, turned to leave and made it as far as the door before having a cry, which was quite impressive, I was concerned I may break down on the spot and she would have to be removed from me whilst I hung on to her ankles.
Yes I know, its supposed to be other way round.
Needless to say, she Loved it!! And if the truth be known, she didn't even want to leave (sob).
It is a new chapter in our lives and I know I will get used to it, and no doubt even come to relish it. But for now it just gives me a heavy heart.
I have good intentions about all the things I am going to do in the couple of hours I will have free. Mostly based around crafts and getting ready for our next craft fair, I'm sure in time I will feel more excited about it!
Did you all struggle with your babies moving on to the next stage? Or did you look forward to more time to yourself?

As you all know I am a bit of a newbie to all this blogging lark, and I am having a bit of a blog crisis!
I think I was doing OK up until Christmas, and taking a (short) break to enjoy some family time has actually done me no favours. I've lost my momentum.
I am a blog stalker and love looking at other blogs and photos and am constantly amazed at peoples creativity and ideas. But for some reason this has given me the colly wobbles and I'm not loving my own blog so very much at the moment.
So I am thinking about a new look.
Now, I'm not bad at ideas and I have a few about how I would like the blog to look. But the implementation side of things, tends to let me down.
So these changes that I talk about may take me a little while to put into place, but I figure if I put this information out there, it backs me into a corner. And I HAVE to do it, at some point!
So, to cut a long rambling blog post short, this is me, backing myself into a corner.

During last summer I took a photo of the sky, at the time I wasn't sure why I had. But now I'm glad I did, when you reach January the summer feels like a lifetime away. But I just have to look at this photo to remind myself that blue skies are just around the corner.
When I look at it, I can feel the warmth on my skin, I think I have mentioned somewhere that I am a summer and flip flops kinda girl?!
I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year?
Ours was rather smashing, but now I feel the need to crack on. I have lots of ideas and am planning to go for it this year, no holding back.
That is of-course if I can shake off the Christmas lazies!
Happy New Year everyone, blue skies are just around the corner X

Well here we are, Christmas Eve! I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and thankyou for all your support this year.
I am turning the laptop off over the Festive period so I can concentrate on my family, drink port, eat too much, assemble toys and have a jolly good time.
I'll see you all again in the new year and in the meantime I hope you all have a jolly good time too!

Growing up my parents would take us to London every Christmas. We would go one evening and see Father Christmas in Selfridges, look at the windows, and see the lights.
It was beyond exciting, I can remember it so well. The cold, the excitement, the crowds. It was just magical.
And it is a tradition that I really want to carry on with my own children, so last night we did just that!
We picked the children up from school, drove to the train station and off we went.
We headed straight to Regent Street and went to Hamleys, I have to admit that it was rammed and from a parents point of view probably not as enjoyable as it was for the children.
But they loved it! The staff there are fantastic and really do put on a show for the children, there are lots of demonstrations and excitement.
We walked to Carnaby Street and had dinner and then to Selfridges and looked at their Christmas windows, sadly they don't have a Grotto anymore. So this part of the tradition I will have to re-live elsewhere!
We had such a fabulous evening and the children are now well and truly ready for Christmas.
Do you have any traditions from your childhood that you want to carry on with your own children? Or perhaps you have some new traditions?

New Year is looming and I am truly terrible at New Year Resolutions, I always make them and never keep them.
I have read other blogs going for a New Year Feeling instead of a New Year Resolution. I like this mostly because I think it is more achievable! You aren't setting yourself up for a fall, and I am all up for that. So instead of writing a bullet point list of things you want to do in the year, you go for an over all feeling instead.
I have lots of things I would like to achieve this year, but here are just a few.
I want to be braver, make more, craft more, put myself out there more, play more, be healthier.
So the feeling I am going for this year is ...
My husband will roll his eyes at the cheesiness of this. But I think positivity is something I need more of in my life and I am going for it in 2013.
What feeling you would like to achieve next year? Or do you have resolutions that you are going to go for?

This weekend we were doing one of our family traditions, which I think was supposed to be number 24 on the ShareAdvent event, but I have another family tradition that I am going to share on the 24th as well.
Every year we go to our local Christmas Tree Farm to purchase our tree. It is a welly boot affair with lots of running around and looking at inappropriate sized trees.
It is great fun and the kids love it. They usually want to buy the 10foot tree that wouldn't even fit in our front garden, I am then baddy Mummy who has to bring them back down to earth about the size of tree we can actually fit in our front room.
It's such a great afternoon out and the children then spend the rest of the day decorating the tree, or rather, decorating the bottom half of the tree.
This year it was timed with the film Elf being on the television, have you seen it?
If you haven't you HAVE to watch it. It is my all my time favourite Christmas film, and I think is number 17 on the ShareAdvent event. If you do nothing else on the list, watch Elf!

It's snowing! Great big fluffy snowflakes!
The children are literally whooping and went of to school in a very excited state.
The small girl and I are cozying up inside, (after a brief spell in the garden).
It has made me feel like I don't have enough knitwear in my life.
So I thought I would share with you a few of my knitwear likes from my Pinterest page...
